Mt. Rainier National Park
This image of the Nisqually River was taken after a day of backcountry skiing at Mt. Rainier. The deep blue glacial water flows peacefully through the battered landscape, winding its way to Puget Sound.
Info:
Nikon D750, Tamron SP 24-70 F2.8 lens, shutter speed 1/1000, ISO 500, F/6.3, shot at 24mm. Cropped to emphasize leading lines of the river and edited in Lightroom to accentuate blues and greens, giving the image a cool tone.
Lenticular Cloud over Mt. Rainier
In this image, again from Mt. Rainier, I got lucky enough to capture a lenticular cloud that had formed above the Nisqually Arm due to high winds on the upper mountain. I feel extremely fortunate to not only have seen this rare cloud formation but to have captured this image.
Info:
Nikon D750, Tamron SP 24-70 F2.8 lens, shutter speed 1/400, ISO 500, F/6.3, shot at 24mm. I cropped this image square to draw the viewer from the bottom right corner, following the stream up to the cloud as the focus of the image, framed by the Nisqually Arm. I also made some minor color and contrast edits in Lightroom.
Blakely Harbor, Bainbridge Island
Taken at night from a small footbridge crossing the head of Blakley Harbor, this image follows the leading line of the stream into Puget Sound creating a satisfying and calming image.
Info:
Nikon D750, Tamron SP 24-70 F2.8 lens, tripod, one 15 second and one 1/50 second exposure, ISO 400, F2.8. This photo is composed of two images stitched together in photoshop to capture the orange city light in the background as well as the deep blue starry night above. I also edited the colors in Lightroom to bring out the oranges and the blues.
Mt. Adams

The Enchantments
There are few places in the world that offer such a vivid and surreal experience. Here, on our way up Asgard Pass, the sun finally hit Dragontail Peak and I snapped a photo to capture this inspiring view.
Info:
Taken on my phone and edited in Lightroom, I added clarity, brightness, accentuating the colors and bringing out the dramatic peak. I also added a slight vignette to pull focus to the center of the image.
Deschutes River
Taken in the evening light on a rafting trip in Oregon when we hiked out of the valley to watch the sunset and on the way down I captured this image. The leading line of the river weaves into the background of the image and is framed by the valley. The colors and contrast paired with the leading line of the river create a calming image full of interest.
Info:
Panasonic DMC-ZS100, 18-25mm lens, shutter speed 1/200, ISO 600, F/8. I brought out the burgundy and teal colors in this image in Lightroom, as well as adding contrast, clarity, and brightness.
Mt. Constance
Waking up for sunrise is my favorite way to start the morning. The day before this particular sunrise, I had backpacked to Silver Lake in the Olympic Mountains. The next morning, I scrambled up a pass to watch the sun hit Mt. Constance. I was so happy to have my camera with me to capture this memorable moment from my favorite sunrise spot in Washington.
Info:
Panasonic DMC-ZS100, 18-25mm lens, shutter speed 1/100, ISO 125, F/5. In Lightroom, I saturated the colors and added some luminance to the red on the mountain. I also added contrast and clarity to show the drama of this scene.
Mt. Ellinor
This Image is taken from the top of Mt. Ellinor of a dramatic adjacent peak. The ridge is a leading line that winds towards the summit, holding back the dense clouds to the right.
Info:
All I did to this image that was captured on my phone was make it black and white and add contrast and clarity to add drama.
Cape Kiwanda
Taken from a precarious perch above the raging Pacific Ocean, this image uses multiple layered leading lines that draw the viewer’s eye from the foreground along the rocks to the island in the distance. It captures a sense of power in the ocean and drama through the colors while maintaining a sort of calmness.
Info:
Nikon D750, Tamron SP 24-70 F2.8 lens, shutter speed 1/1000, ISO 200, F/4.5. I added clarity and contrast to this image in Lightroom as well as bringing out the purple and green tones to add drama.
Icicle Creek
I got lucky enough to experience this incredible sunset near Leavenworth, Washington. A lenticular cloud lit up red in the distance was framed perfectly by the mountains and the river below pulls you gently into the image.
Info:
Shot on my phone, I edited this image in Lightroom, adding greens and oranges, as well as a vignette and some contrast.
Mt. Rainier (again)
Following a little stream from the bottom of the image, the focus is quickly transferred to the glorious Mt. Rainier, the subject of this image. Shot vertically to emphasize the height of the mountain as well as incorporate interest in the foreground, this image shows the drama of this beautiful peak.
